Lesbians Who Tech – Debug 2020 Summit

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to present at the Lesbians Who Tech & Allies Debug 2020 Summit. My topic was “How to Create Data Visualizations That Are Actually Helpful” (wow, a mouthful!) where I covered strategies for creating better visuals. My presentation was 20 minutes long, and it was a great experience getting to share these tips from home!

I covered what is helpful to your readers, which includes understanding your audience, adding context, and ensuring visuals are accessible. I also mentioned that giving too many visuals, creating charts that are too busy, and presenting unreliable data is unhelpful, and how we can overcome these common mishaps.

Watch my presentation here.
